Sleeping in until 7:00am was a great day to begin this rest day. Sean and I had breakfast while Michelle squeezed in a bike ride and run before rain settled in around noon. Much like yesterday afternoon, Sean and I conversed for a few hours. It truly did feel like catching up with an old friend! I also continued to have a good time with their dogs Sinbad and Siri. Sinbad (pictured above) seemed to understand that today was a day of rest. Sean and Michelle were going to a cookout this afternoon and invited me to join them. Before going to the cookout, Sean and I picked up my bicycle from Zeelo's. Thanks to Tyler's handiwork, 36 new and more durable spokes on the rear rim had restored my confidence in pedalling eastward into rural Wyoming and Nebraska. After dropping off the bicycle, the three of us headed to the cookout being hosted by Gregg, Sean's good friend. It turns out that Gregg is familiar with the route that I was taking eastward into Nebraska. He gave some really good pointers on places to visit, camp, and most importantly eat! Speaking of consuming food, Gregg made some awesome ribs! After having two decent servings, I was (as my maternal grandmother used to say) sufficiently suffonsified. Joining in at this cookout was by far a better way to take in Casper than to go elsewhere alone. Sean, Michelle, and I more or less picked up our conversation from earlier in the day when we got back from the cookout. At some point, I mentioned something about my brothers, which led to us chatting about their sons: Chris and Killian. During our conversation, I could tell that they were both proud of their two sons. I also had the impression that that missed them both. Despite this, I could tell that it brought them both joy to talk about them, and it was fascinating to hear about their talents and stories. Time had gotten away from all of us on this evening. It was going on 10:30pm, and tomorrow's route was a hefty 112 miles! It was time for bed.
