Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

"The plane is on the ground, the plane is on the ground!" declared a youngster across the aisle of the row where we were seated. I was just as excited but couldn't quite make the same hearty proclamation (adulthood dictates).

We had just arrived at Sea-Tac international airport after: a 3:15am train ride, TSA screening at 4:30am, and a 6:00am flight. This already made for a full day, and it was not yet 9:00am in Seattle! One cab ride to the ferry terminal, one ferry ride, and one more cab ride later we had reached Garrett's aunt's, whom thankfully hosted us prior to beginning our trip on Friday.

One more ferry ride and we were back in Seattle for a quick lunch before retrieving our bikes from REI. As we soon realized, we truly required more time to not only obtain our bikes but to make some last minute purchases. A 5pm dinner, courtesy of Garrett's great aunt, meant that we had to catch the 3:45pm ferry back to Bainbridge. Thankfully, we navigated an unfamiliar part of downtown Seattle back to the ferry terminal with one minute to spare before the ferry's departure!

Our day finally became more relaxing. Garrett's great aunt treated us and his cousin to a wholesome dinner at Doc's, a restaurant with an easygoing atmosphere and pleasant view of the bay. After dinner, Garrett's cousin kindly drove us to the grocery store.

We returned around 6:30pm and spent time prepping the bikes and unpacking/repacking gear. Day one is nearly in the books at 10:00pm; time for a well deserved night of rest!
